I'm 38 now and ever since I've moved into office working I've just seen my weight go up and up.

In November I'd seriously had enough, mainly as I noticed my sleep was even being badly affected.

I joined up to https://www.manvfatfootball.org/Coventry and weighed in at 126.2kg roughly 19st 11lbs.

I was absolutely blowing out of my arse first week but enjoyed being out on the pitch.

January rolled around and I'd lost about 3kg, so I started thinking about what else I could do.

https://www.parkrun.org.uk/coventry/ was the first thing that came to my mind, it's free and I'd heard its supportive. So I turned up on Saturday at the memorial park at 9am and walked it. I was pretty blown away by the number of people there and how supportive it was.

I kept going as often as possible, and running a bit more each time I went. This Saturday just gone I managed to run the full 5k for the first time.

I've done 7 park runs now. My best time is a not very impressive to anyone but me 35:52.

I'm now playing another hour of football on a Monday evening and my weight has dropped to 18st 6lbs.

Its coming off slowly but surely.

I've given up alcohol for the time being to aid my weight loss, not drank for 40 days now.

Not sure when the last time I went that amount of time without drinking was!

That's my story.

If anyone is interested in losing weight I'd definitely consider manvfat as a football fan.

Ran a 10k this morning. First time in over ten years I've ran they far I think.

I've been running 5k fairly comfortably for the last couple of months.

Still found it rough to double the distance though today.

Had a great run today. 6.5 miles. Broke all of my personal records.

You just have to keep chipping away at it and the improvement will come.

Took another chunk off the park run time today.

Hoping to get under 30 minutes by the end of the year.

30 minutes dead according to Strava today for my 5k.

Very close to pushing through that barrier.

Ran a 29:28 5k last week so I'm content in my achievements for the year in running.

I'll set a new target for next year and start chipping away at that in the new year.

Really increased my mileage this year so far.

Seen some big improvement in stamina and garmin V02 max.

Made a YouTube video about the fitness journey I started last year. Unfortunately I seem to have an inescapable pavlovian pull to go full Tim Canterbury when I am on camera.
